Super Mad Gooseys

The wicked, the one and only, Deadmau5 released two new tracks today through his Soundcloud account. Very much unlike anything we've heard recently by him, and quite far from his dance floor tracks on his previous album, 4x4=12, these tunes are very chilled but absolutely amazing. When I found these tracks, it was 2 hours since he'd uploaded them and they already had been listened to 35,000 times. First track, which is mysteriously named HR 8939 Cephei, is absolutely amazing. As my brother said, when I showed him, SUPER MAD GOOSEYS!!! Second track, Bleed, is a beautiful ambient track. I'm just loving his direction.

OH. MY. GOD!!!!! This track has made my day. Talk about reigniting my love for uplifting trance. There's a few mixes of this one, and the original is amazing as well, but I think I listened to the below track maybe 20 times today. Beautiful, glorious, uplifting trance in all it's awesomeness.

Pink Sunset

Ah, Tuesday's over which means it's almost hump day, thanks fuck.

Today I was totally digging the trance/prog house tracks but there's a couple in there that shake up the mix a bit.

Avicii, a swedish DJ who's name I've seen around a bit but only today did a bit of a search and heard a bunch of pumping tracks. Here's two that really caught my attention. A mate said that the track Penguin was quite generic, but it still made my palms sweaty.

and of course, I'm sure we all know this track...

I don't know much about Felix Leiter but this track caught me today when I was reading a blog with a ridiculous amount of awesome prog house on it, Earmilk, and I was hooked. I do plan on doing a bit of research and searching around for other tracks, but time just didn't allow it today. Stupid work.

Next up is Bad Boy Bill. This guy has been around for years and even co-founded Beatport, but I haven't considered much of his stuff until this track, which has even then been remixed by Jquintel. Nevertheles, wicked vocals and I can't wait until it's remixed into a more trancey track.

Ok time to slow things down a bit. XXXy is a down tempo Electro group from California who describe their music as 'distorted synths and meloncholic melodies sprinkled with mellow and catchy vocals'. I spent a fair amount of my day listening to these guys and they rock my socks. They also do a wicked remix of Radiohead's Videotape. Bon Appetite.

Joan As Police Woman aka Joan Wasser has a new album out. From what I've heard of it, it's indie, it's powerful and it rocks. Little bit of trivia that I found out today - Joan was dating Jeff Buckley when he died.

Shlohmo hails from LA and has some serious skills when it comes to piecing together samples, chopping it all up and starting again. He's been compared to Burial and Flying Lotus and doing a fine job indeed. Mmmm bliss.

Who needs a lift?

Here are four tracks I'm listening to at the moment that just make me smile and feel it right down in my bones.

1) Ellie Goulding = Amazing vocals. Everything she has made is just GOLD. And pretty much everyone is remixing her stuff, there is just so much beautiful music out there with her name on it.

2) Remix Artist Collective have just dropped their second album of remixes. The remix of Spanish group Delorean's Stay Close gives me goosegumps. It takes me back to many an early morning in the car with my brother and his mates just feeling every note that the music offers up. An absolute beauty.

3) Again, Triple J offering up some beauties for my ears. Sound Labs came through and delivered this track which took me a little while to hunt down but here it is. A fabulous remix by Sydney duo Domeyko/Gonzalez.

4) Why am I only now learning about George Acosta? Clearly I have been out of the Trance scene for far too long. Nevertheless, I have stumbled upon a golden track that just fills my insides with sparkles and happiness. On April 4 he will be releasing a new album full of vocal trance 'Visions Behind Expressions' so here's to hoping it's as uplifting as this one.

Post-Dubstep Bragging Rights

So we all know and love dubstep. Even Britney jumped on board with her latest song. But In 2010 Post-Dubstep was born, and it's well documented that Mount Kimbie is to thank. There's more and more post-dubstep artists popping up including but not limited to James Blake, Teen Daze, Burial and Four Tet, but after coming across some more Mount Kimbie tracks and remixes today, it's safe to say I definitely have a massive music crush on this duo. Made up of Dominic Maker and Kai Campos from the UK, these guys have their minimalistic and sampling ways down pat.

Just breathe

Ooah from The Glitch Mob has a side project called Of Porcelain and the beats he makes are absolutely beautiful. Two of my favourites are listed below that are best listened to lying on the grass in the radiant sun. I hope this makes your Monday morning more bearable.

Sunday Evening Beats

A few Sunday's ago, I was driving home from what was a terrible evening. I'm so grateful for that Sunday night, because, had it not been for that I wouldn't have been awake at 12am in my car listening to Sound Lab on Triple J and happened to hear the fabulous James Blake. I may be slow on the uptake, as I have come to learn, but there are many who don't know him. So, here is my contribution to educating those reading. His new album is divine, so kick back and enjoy.
